Looking ahead to 2016

This brand new year will herald exciting changes within EUMA and our profession.

To keep up-to-date with rapidly changing knowledge, the theme for 2016 will be 'Self Development' so that we can continue to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the challenges of an ever changing world and profession. 

We look forward to learning and networking with you on our year of ‘Self Development’!


Celebrating 25 years North West region

EUMA UK held a Personal Development Day in Manchester in celebration of 25 years in the North West. Sheila Anderson, founder of the North West region and EUMA UK PA of the Year 2010, had this to say:

‘When I joined the European Association of Professional Secretaries (EAPS) nearly thirty years ago, I had not heard of any other network for Secretaries.  I felt then, and still do that Secretaries/PAs should be recognised as an essential part of the management team.

After a year or so travelling to Yorkshire each month to my nearest EAPS branch, I was tasked with setting up a region for the North West - Manchester being the hub, but taking in a 50 mile radius. It was like launching a new business.

I have been a member of EUMA for almost 30 years and both I (and my company) have benefitted from a wide network of contacts. My self-confidence has grown, because of the skills and knowledge I have developed at EUMA meetings and training events.

I feel part of a European family and always get a buzz out of meetings.

The birthday cake at the training day was a lovely surprise’.

  • Francisca Kozijn - newly elected as National Treasurer

  • Janice Anderson - Website and Social Media Coordinator‚Äč

A special note of gratitude to both Angela Sutherland and Naina Desai who respectively held the positions of National Treasurer and National PRO. Angela will still remain the NW Chairman.


40 years of Developing Excellence for Management Assistants

EUMA celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2014.  Europe and EUMA UK held a series of special events which commemorated this momentous occasion.  These events reflected on its rich 40+ year history and incorporated inspiration for the future.

London 39th Annual EUMA Conference

‘Leading today..... managing tomorrow’

The 39th Annual EUMA Conference was hosted by EUMA UK in London on the 4th of October 2013.  

The conference saw 280 PAs from 26 different countries congregate at the Grange St Paul’s for one of the most amazing conferences in EUMA’s history.  The week started with European Committee meetings, National Committee meetings and culminated with the AGM.  Members from the UK and Europe participated in training seminars, with celebrated speakers, including Laura Schwartz, Former Special Assistant to President Clinton and the White House Director of Events.

We networked with new colleagues, renewed friendships, shared news and new experiences.  We partied, with a pre-dinner champagne reception at the Charing Cross Hotel, before heading off to the gala dinner aboard the 'Symphony' cruise boat for a night of laughter and Murder Mystery suspense, cruising along the river Thames.  The party continued long into the night and it goes without saying that we all had an amazing time!

A huge Thank You to the organising team, Sue France, Sharon Severn, Angela Mistry, Naina Desai, Susanna Tackie, Cristina Gee, Esther Williams and the dynamic Matthew Want!  A special Thank You to Dawn Jones, from Beckenham College, who rose to the challenge and stepped in without hesitation to support the EUMA team.  It is through the hard work, commitment and enthusiasm of ALL the team and members that the conference was a resounding success.

Thank you also to Claire Farrington and her team at the Grange St Paul's Hotel who provided excellent support, hospitality and service to ensure the meetings and conference went smoothly.
